No family left behind

Ohana Respite & Support LLC brings compassionate, professional care to families across the Salt Lake Valley. We're here to support you.

Our founder

Built on purpose, guided by the Salt Lake Valley community

My path to founding Ohana Respite & Support was shaped by both personal experience and a deep sense of purpose. I spent years in the construction industry, where I learned what it means to build something that lasts — something people can depend on. But over time, I felt called to build something different: a support system grounded in compassion, advocacy, and community. As a long-time resident of the Salt Lake Valley, I don't just serve this community — I am part of it. Caregiving has touched my life personally, and I understand the unique challenges that come with raising or supporting children with diverse needs, including those on the autism spectrum. I know the weight that families carry, and I know how much it matters to have someone in your corner who truly understands. That is why I founded Ohana Respite & Support. The word "Ohana" means family, and to me, it carries a commitment: nobody gets left behind or forgotten. My goal is to provide families throughout the Salt Lake Valley with professional, high-quality respite care — services that give caregivers the relief they need while ensuring the individuals in their care are treated with dignity and genuine compassion. This work is not just what I do. It is who I am. — Meissel Tonga, Founder

The matriarchy matters in our family. Ohana recognized that and supported me as the primary caregiver, not just my loved one. That respect and understanding changed everything for us.
